Reports on Building 95 Fire Now Available

The LTTA is now able to share incident reports for the August 18, 2022 fire at 95 Thorncliffe Park Drive. Follow the link for more info.

Two incident reports were produced regarding the August 18, 2022 fire at 95 Thorncliffe Park Drive:

Toronto Fire Service Incident Report

Electrical Safety Authority Incident Report

The LTTA Steering Committee thanks Councillor Jaye Robinson and MPP Stephanie Bowman for their successful efforts to acquire the incident reports on behalf of Leaside Towers residents, at no cost to the tenants association.

You will find that both reports are consistent in the cause of the fire. Neither report assigns fault or blame for the fire though, and no safety recommendations were made by either TFS or ESA.

The LTTA Steering Committee asked additional questions about the reports and confirmed that investigators found no evidence of negligence or wrongdoing that would have resulted in a requirement to assign fault and/or provide recommendations.

The TFS Incident Report also includes an accounting of the individual firefighting units that responded to the incident. The ESA Incident Report includes activities and investigations that were undertaken after August 18th in the process of restoring power.

For both reports, the LTTA Steering Committee has redacted (blacked out) personal information such as names of Leaside Towers residents, specific apartment numbers, and phone numbers that we cannot confirm are attached to a business or personal device. In the TFS report, we are aware that Morguard was incorrectly listed as “Moreland” multiple times.
